Vid Of The Day: Triumph At Occupy Wall Street

It's long (TWSS!), but I only watched three minutes and was entertained. But then, I'm still high off that Nyquil I took last night.

Petition Of The Day: Detroit Lions Fans vs Nickelback

A group of Detroit Lions (NFL) fans has started a petition to prevent Nickelback from playing during the halftime show of their nationally televised Thanksgiving Day game. Can you blame them?

Reads said petition:

This game is nationally televised; do we really want the rest of the US to associate Detroit with Nickelback?
Detroit is home to so many great musicians and they chose Nickelback?!?!?! Does anyone even like Nickelback? Is this some sort of ploy to get people to leave their seats during halftime to spend money on alcoholic beverages and concessions?

This is completely unfair to those of us who purchased tickets to the game. At least the people watching at home can mute their TVs. The Lions ought to think about their fans before choosing such an awful band to play at halftime.

The petition already has 25,000+ toward a goal of 35,000. Here are some comments from people who have signed already:

I'd rather put my head next to a car horn for 15 minutes

Nickelbacks' music doesn't even reflect a musical genre that has ever been popular in the city. It is not rock and roll, its a nasty hybrid of the worst manufactured music on the planet.

You could probably get Kid Rock to do it for free.

I'm from Alberta, home of Nickleback, and I would like to stop them from performing anywhere else. They have been giving Canadians and Albertans a bad name since they puked out that "How you remind me" thing way back when, and I think it is time they are stopped.

I probably won't even watch the game, but if i can help stopping one nickelback gig, i'll know i have done good work.

Think of the children!

I'd rather see Rebecca Black unleash her newest single "Thursday" at halftime than have to listen to Nickelback

This makes me want to not watch the game at all for fear I may accidentally un-mute the game during halftime and have to cut off my ears afterward.

I know things are rough here in Michigan, but come on Detroit, that's low.

I imagine Hell is nothing more than an endless Nickleback concert. That fear is what keeps me from doing bad things.

I guess Styx was busy.
